Clayton’s Caterpillar Quest

Meet Clayton, a small caterpillar, happy in his poplar tree. Despite dreaming of exploring the park, Clayton's slow crawl keeps him close.

As seasons change, Clayton wraps himself in a cocoon for winter, only to emerge in spring as a beautiful butterfly. Clayton's Caterpillar Quest is a delightful story of the joy of realizing one's dreams.

Marina grew up with this story, written by her mom. As she started getting more involved in illustration, Marina wanted to take this cute story and publish it with her own illustrations! As this was one of her own projects, Marina had complete creative freedom to illustrate this book.

The goal was to create a cute caterpillar character that was unique from any of the current caterpillar books out there. This is where the big eyes and the orange colour palette stemmed from. The orange caterpillar also popped right off the pages against the light blue sky and green hills.

This children’s book is a very special project to the designer, seeing as her mom is the author and it made a perfect Christmas gift for each niece and nephew!
