MIND OCEAN SPACE

ISSUE 03 2024/2025

Magazine Layout Design 2024

Open magazine titled 'Mind Ocean Space' with black and white cover illustration of laundry hanging on a clothesline, and interior pages featuring photographs of salt flats, people swimming, and a woman wading in water.

What an amazing opportunity!! I worked closely with the editor of this magazine to bring this project all the way to print. As the sole designer of issue 3, I spent the summer months building unique layouts for each zine submission.

MIND OCEAN SPACE is a collection of various artists that submit their work to be showcased in the magazine. Each layout features a different artist, including poets, painters, photographers, and more.

Open magazine with images of cherry blossoms and poem titled "Finding a Little Light."
An open magazine displaying an article titled "BRIEFLY WE ARE GOLDEN" with a sunset photo and another page with text, and a closed magazine titled "MIND OCEAN SPACE" featuring a line drawing of laundry hanging on a clothesline.
An open magazine with black and white photos of water and a person in a bathing cap on the right page, and a title 'Fragments of Memory' with text on the left page.
Open magazine spread about hospital darkroom with black and white photos of medical staff and darkroom activities, and text describing the darkroom's role in light therapy and medical imaging.

“I can't say enough good things about Marina!! We worked together on designing a full-feature print magazine, and her work is amazing. She perfectly understood and was able to communicate our aesthetic in a beautiful and creative way - she is a graphic magician!! She made the vision and the project a reality. And she is very friendly and professional to boot. I can only recommend Marina for all of your design needs!”

  • Noa Amson Editor of MOS Magazine

As mentioned, this is the third issue of MOS. The editor wanted to explore some more out-of-the-box layouts while still keeping a resemblance to the first and second issues of the zine. I used the swiss style design as a foundation for each layout, as the first two issues also seemed to be inspired by this style.

The most interesting part of this project was taking completely unique artist submissions that look completely unique to each other, and bringing them all together to look like one cohesive piece of work.

With 42 artist submissions and 87 pages later, we have the third issue of MIND OCEAN SPACE.

Open magazine featuring articles and illustrations about sea synthesis, geology, and stones.
